Your Visit

During your first visit to Winona Dental, Dr. Wong will do a thorough assessment of your mouth, a thorough cleaning, and help treat any dental issues you may have.

The assessment will establish the treatments you’ve had in the past, your present treatment needs. Dental x-rays or radiographs may then be taken. The dental radiographs provide the dentist with the ability to further diagnose and treat any issues before they become extensive issues. If you are pregnant or nursing or have had a set of radiographs taken within the past year, then the x-rays may not be necessary. Depending on the condition of your dental health, a full set of radiographs may be taken to ensure a complete diagnosis of your oral health.

Located in the heart of Winona in Hamilton, right next to the Winona Canada Post, Winona Dental is a short walk away for the community. Clean & Safe

The safety of our patients, visitors, staff and the community is our priority. To ensure that cross-infection is prevented, we have procedures in place that adhere to universal infection control in combination with pre-sterilization, heat treatment, barriers, and effective sterilization techniques to prevent infection and contamination.

Sterilization is the elimination of all bacteria, prions and viruses from a surface or piece of equipment. This is different from disinfection, where only organisms that can cause disease are removed by a disinfectant.

At Winona Dental, all items are barrier wrapped and subsequently cleaned and decontaminated prior and post appointment. Microbial soaps and alcohols are used to effectively clean equipment and instruments are sterilized using a variety of methods from ultrasonic cleaners, ultraclaves and sterilizing agents.

HEPA filters are installed to filter out 99.97% of harmful germs, dust, pollen, pet dander, mold spores, and other allergens as small as .3 microns from the air. For additional safety, the air is cycled through UV-C light to further clean operatory rooms.

With the current COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve detailed the safety precautions we’re taking at our dental center on our COVID-19 updates page.

Come by and meet the dentist to get a sense of our dental care philosophy and/or discuss your dental health priorities. We understand that the dental procedures that benefit us can sometimes cause anxiety.

Before your dental procedures, we’ll inform you of what you can expect and follow-up with you post appointment to ensure there are no unordinary post-treatment side effects. For added comfort during the procedure, we offer minimal sedation which is non-invasive and has little to no side effects.

Winona Dental also provides emergency dental service for patients in the Hamilton Stoney Creek area experiencing tooth aches and related pains.
